The Book of Revelation

Chapter 11 (continued)

As we examine verses 15-19, it is clear that the trumpet of Revelation 11:15 does indeed signify the end of all things.  Allow me to present the highlights:

Revelation 11:15-19 "And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail."

These events coincide with the end of all things and are expressed in other passages.

Revelation 16:17 "And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done."

We will be covering the 16th chapter in greater detail later, of course, but in the ending 5 verses of chapter 16, we see that the end of all things has come.  (By the way, this is at the pouring out of the 7th vial).  We also red of the judgment of Babylon, the rewarding of the saints and of the worship of the 24 elders.

Revelation 6:12-17 "And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"

Revelation 19:4 "And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia."

These scriptures tell us that the 7th trumpet, the seventh vial and the 6th and 7th seal either take place simultaneously or very close together!  It is quite likely that the 6th seal more closely coincides with the 7th trumpet simply because at the opening of the 7th seal there is complete silence in heaven.  Could this be the time of judgment (with the silence)?  It is likely, considering the other passages of scripture.  In either case, the events of these last trumpets, seals and vials are quite likely the same event!  (Details will be given as we get to the vials of wrath).

John does something in chapter 12 that deviates from the former chapters.  He now takes us back in time to a couple of different events.  I believe the reasoning for this is so we may understand what this culmination of events in Revelation is all about..  He is, in effect, giving us some background information as to the origins of God's plan for salvation and for judgment!
