Welcome to the Book of Revelation Teaching from The
Elijah Project!
I'm
glad you're here.
Listen to a short message concerning salvation from the
Elijah Project!
INTRODUCTION
The
very mention of the Book of Revelation conjures images
of fantastic creatures, angelic beings, a man called
Antichrist and imaginations of the return of Jesus
Christ himself to this earth. One has only to read a few
chapters into this book to discover the depths of the
mysteries of God. The imagery presented in the Book of
Revelation seems almost as if it was something straight
from a science fiction novel and it can be quite
intimidating when one is trying to understand the events
of the book.
My
attempt at teaching this book will be feeble at best but
I believe it is necessary and of great benefit to all
Saints to not only read but to understand the Book of
Revelation. I believe the entire book should be
interpreted literally whenever possible and that the
65 other books of the Bible
must
be the source for the understanding of this book.
The bible has always been written “line upon line” and
“precept upon precept” and Revelation is no different.
Since the Book of Revelation describes an end of all
things, it is my firm belief that in order to read the
end, one must not only read, but understand the
beginning and the middle.
I
don’t claim to have all the answers to your every
question, but I do believe the concepts (or precepts if
you will) found in the Book of Revelation are easy to
understand, despite a possible lack of specific,
detailed understanding in some passages.
I’m
not sure why the Book of Revelation is neglected and
avoided by many preachers today. Perhaps it is due to
the difficulty of understanding the symbolism or perhaps
it is simply because studying Revelation requires a bit
more diligence than with other books. In either case,
Revelation 1:3 and Revelation 22:7 both tell us there is
a blessing for the reader, the hearer and the keeper
(the one who understands) of the words of this book of
prophecy.
Revelation is in its proper title “The Revelation of
Jesus Christ”, or the “Unveiling” of Jesus Christ. We
see Christ in all his glory and the defeat of all the
enemies of Christ. We also are presented with a glimpse
of a glorious world to come in which there will be
nothing there to harm, to corrupt or to bring a tear!
What a wonderful place God has prepared for us!
There
are many who claim the book of Revelation has already
been fulfilled and is past, however, under only a brief
examination, comparing scripture with scripture, one can
quickly determine that this is not the case. Are there
events in the book that have passed? Absolutely! For
example: The Seven Churches of Asia no longer exist and
the persecution of those churches they were experiencing
has ceased. Is this reason enough to consider the
entire book to have been fulfilled? Not hardly! There
isn’t a single Christian anywhere (that I am currently
aware of) that isn’t looking for the return of Jesus
Christ. The return of Christ is very graphically
depicted in the Chapter 19 of the Book of Revelation and
a description of events surrounding that return is given
throughout the pages of the book. If it is agreed that
Jesus has not returned, then it must also be agreed that
the entire book of Revelation has not yet been
fulfilled. Certainly, there is no one who will
claim we are living in the “new heaven and new earth”.
For this reason and more, as we will discover in the
study, Revelation is both historical and prophetic to
this last day generation.
Repentance and Holiness are stressed and demanded
throughout the book of Revelation. Without it, we don’t
have the slightest hope of living eternally with Jesus
Christ. It is for this reason that I encourage you, as
you study this book, to fast and to pray. You should
never study the Word of God lightheartedly, but to adopt
this attitude concerning the Book of Revelation will
only leave you confused, bewildered and at best
ill-informed. Pray, Fast and Study.
If
you are a new Christian and you do not understand the
basic core foundational teachings: repentance,
baptisms, laying on of hands, the resurrection of the
dead, faith toward God, eternal judgment: I encourage
you to study Revelation but also know that without a
foundational background, it may be difficult for you to
completely understand the precepts (ideas) presented in
Revelation. As with all teaching I present, I try to
keep it simple enough for babes to understand, but I
also must present enough in-depth teaching for the most
seasoned Saint to grasp. Again, I encourage each of you
to fast, prayerfully study the book and to build “line
upon line” as we study this Book of Revelation!
Check Back Often! (You may want to bookmark the
page). I am working as quickly as possible to get the
studies posted online by chapter! Hopefully, doing this
will make it easier for you to navigate this extremely
long bible study.
