What do the Prosperity Teachers really teach? I said it before and I'll say it again: It's all about the money! Look at their own words to see (my comments in maroon font color):

Marilyn Hickey:

"What do you need? Start creating it. Start speaking about it. Start speaking it into being. Speak to your billfold. Say, "You big, thick billfold full of money." Speak to your checkbook. Say, "You, checkbook, you. You've never been so prosperous since I owned you. You're just jammed full of money." I'm sorry, but isn't this "claiming" business actually telling you to LIE about your true situation?  If you have no money but claim you do, isn't that a lie?

Benny Hinn:

"Poverty is from the devil and God wants all Christians prosperous." (Benny Hinn, TBN, 11/6/90)

"Say after me, all of you, everybody say it, 'The wealth of the wicked is mine.' (The audience repeats.) One more time, (The audience repeats) One more time. (The audience repeats it again)" (Benny Hinn. Praise-a-Thon, TBN, April 1990)

Its an old belief that if you hear something said by your own voice long enough you will believe it...kind of like a lie repeated often enough that becomes truth to the mind of the liar. 

"The Lord giveth and NEVER taketh away. And just because Job said 'Blessed be the name of the Lord,' don't mean that he's right. When he said, 'Blessed be the name,' he was just being religious." (TBN, Nov., 1990).

The former statement is a direct contradiction of the word of God!  Job 1:21-22 is clear.  The entire context of the bible is that God exalts, God abases, God blesses and God can take away.  Read the story of Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel chapter 4!

I’m sick and tired of hearing about streets of gold. I don’t need gold in Heaven, I gotta have it now. I mean, when I get to glory, all my bills will be paid, brother. I won’t have bills in glory. I gotta have it here. I think I'll try this the next time I hold a revival....wonder how much money I could get? I'm of course being sarcastic. I have never, ever asked for an offering and I never will! In fact, those who know me also know that I quite often give back ALL the offering and give an offering on top of that!

When did it become the evangelists' responsibility to tell you how much God is telling you to give?

Wouldn't this violate the principle found in James chapter 2 and make YOU the one who is now naked?

Isn't it tragic to you that she would tell anyone who had only $77 in the bank to "send it all in"? If that isn't preying upon poor people, I'm not sure what is!

 Interesting. I don't read anywhere in the bible that says Judas was stealing from the treasury. On another note: Jesus had to get Peter to catch a fish in order for them to pay taxes. Doesn't sound like there was much in the bag to me, does it to you?

John Hagee

 "Jesus was not poor...Jesus had a nice house! John 1:38 says that Jesus turned to those that were following him and said, 'Come with me.' And they said, 'Where dwellest thou?' Is Jesus a liar? Jesus said he didn't even have a place to lay his head. (Matthew 8:20, Luke 9:58)

Apparently poor people aren't saved since the anointing came upon us at the cross. If the anointing comes upon saved people and some of them are poor, logic dictates that they aren't really saved doesn't it? Can you see the error in this garbage yet?

That's an interesting thought, especially since there were slaves with whom Paul spoke that had absolutely nothing in the form of worldly possessions!  Read Ephesians 6:5-9, 1 Timothy 6:1-2, Titus 2:9-10 and 1 Peter 2:18-19. Paul instructed slaves to remain slaves and to serve their masters.

It Really IS - All About the Money With this Doctrine!

Over and over and over: It's all about the money and the material possessions!   Here we have an erroneous attempt to teach a "100 fold" materialistic return for your "investment" (the Word-Faith people call this your "love gift").

T.D. Jakes

Where is the scripture that says such things? This is speculation and it is a purely heretical teaching.

“The myth of the poor Jesus needs to be destroyed, because it’s holding people back.” (Ibid., pg. 31.) Jakes refers to an adulterous man as a “frightened little boy” and a wife beater as a “terrified little boy.” (Jakes, Loose That Man, op. cit., pp. 123-124.)

I'm sorry...I believe a wife beater is a CRIMINAL and is the instrument of Satan. Jakes can believe what he wants. You can belive Mr. Jakes if you wish.  That's your choice to make.

So you can substitute to read 'if any man have ears to faith, let him faith." Huh? …So it's up to you what you give. I'm sorry. I don't read the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5 as including "wealth". Do you?

I could go on and on and on, but I think you can see by now: It's all about the money.   Friend, this "prosperity message" being taught today is in fact "ANOTHER GOSPEL" and it is NOT the gospel of the bible. 

Won't you repent of your covetousness, greed, and sorcery and come out from among this today? 

Revelation 3:17-18    "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see." 

Gold "tried in the fire" isn't money and material wealth, my friend, it is the spiritual riches that come only from a pure heart and clean hands and a mouth in whom there is no guile!
