Questions to Ponder
My
Questions For Modern Version Bible Advocates
1. Have
you personally done research on the KJV versus Other Versions
controversies?
By that I do not
mean that you are taking someone else’s word for it, or that you
like what your best friend said or that you read one or two websites to
see their opinion. I mean, rather, that you did actual
reading, actual looking into historical records, actual research -
yourself ?
Most people who
write expressing concern about the KJV-Preference position have several
mistaken presumptions that they are not fully aware of. This is due
largely in part to the fact that they have not done the research on this
issue themselves.
Often, they have
relied on the word of others (who despite their good intentions have also
not done their own personal research)
2. If you are not in favor
of using the KJV, and if you are in favor instead of using Modern Bible
Versions, are you sure that you understand the major points concerning the
philosophical and theological positions you are advocating ?
3. Have you thoroughly
considered that if you insist on using Modern Versions of the Bible, then
you must accept the fact that you are rejecting 95%-98% of the Bible
Manuscripts that have been used by the Christian Church throughout the
centuries (until 1904) Are you also aware that modern version scholars all
state that about 98% of the King James Bible was accurately translated?
4. Are you aware that the
KJV is still supported by 95% of the Bible Parchments and
Manuscripts which exist all over the world ?
5. It is true that the KJV
translators relied on the manuscripts that were available in their own day
and time. And it is also true that more Bible manuscripts were found since
the early 1900s, than in all of the other centuries combined. Here is the
key question: Are you aware that nearly every single one of these
ancient manuscripts (those found in the 1900s) have actually supported,
authenticated and validated the King James Version of the Bible?
That, friend, is not my opinion, it is a very well documented historical,
scientific fact.
In other words, despite
finding many more manuscripts of the Bible since the KJV was translated,
more than 95% of the new manuscripts found in the 1900s continue to
support the King James Version, and disagree with the
Modern Versions. Are you aware of this ? Do
your own research....you'll discover it for yourself.
6. Are you aware that Modern
Versions Reject the Greek Text which underlies the English King James
Version, and that this is really what the crux of the matter is? Do you
realize that the Greek Textus Receptus is being rejected in these modern
versions in favor of the Alexandrian Texts?
7. Do you realize that the
Protestant Greek New Testament (Textus Receptus), was used not only by the
English speaking world in the KJV, but also by almost all other countries
in the spread and propagation of the Bible (until 1904) ?
8.
Have you ever stopped to think about WHY someone might
[from a spiritual point of view] have an interest in getting modern
Christians to reject the Bibles that upheld their Churches and their
Doctrines for nearly 2000 years ?
9. Are you aware that if you reject
the Greek Text which underlies the King James Version, that you are
rejecting the Bible and the Validity of the Bibles, and undermining the
credibility and witness not only of the historic Christian martyrs who
were English, but also those from Spain, Holland, France, Germany,
Switzerland, and from Italy: since they all also rely on the Greek Textus
Receptus that the King James uses?
Do you
really know which foreign versions of the Bible - in each language - are
supported and rely on the same Textus Receptus used by the King James
Translators?
Can you name these other versions?
Here are some of them:
The
Geneva Bible in English used the same Textus Receptus as the King
James and was good enough for the American Founding Fathers, (The Puritans
and the Pilgrims) in resisting false teachings and in building a strong
vibrant well-grounded Christian Church for hundreds of years. For
centuries, the morals of mankind were strong. Do you believe we have a
strong, Godly moral base today? If the bibles of yesteryear were good
enough for them as they risked their life to defend it and live by it,
then why is it that today's people need a different version?
The
Reina Valera Bible in Spanish used the same Textus Receptus as
the King James and this has been good enough for the Spaniards & Spanish
in resisting false teachings and building a strong vibrant well-grounded
Christian Church for hundreds of years. That Bible was good enough for
them, and by the way IS STILL good enough for them.
The
Diodatti Bible in Italian used the same Textus Receptus as the
King James and this has been good enough for the Italians in resisting
false teachings and building a strong vibrant well-grounded Christian
Church for hundreds of years.
The
Luther Bible in German used the same Textus Receptus as the King
James and this has been good enough for the Germans in resisting false
teachings and building a strong vibrant well-grounded Christian Church for
hundreds of years.
The
Olivetain & Martin Bibles in French (as well as Louis Second/1st
Edition) used the same Textus Receptus as the King James and this has been
good enough for the French in resisting false teachings and building a
strong vibrant well-grounded Christian Church for hundreds of years.
Are you aware
that MOST countries today REJECT these modern day versions? Have you
watched the events of the EPISCOPALIAN CHURCH in the United States?
Where do you think they got their doctrines? It was most
certainly NOT from the King James Version of the bible. The Episcopalian
Church accepted and embraced the NIV version of the Bible in the mid 70's
and we've seen a downward moral spiral since that time. The European
Anglican churches, however REJECTED these versions and are now rebuking
the American Episcopals for the ordination of a homosexual priest and the
support of homosexual marriages! Hmmm....I wonder if there is a
correlation between the NIV Perversion and the American Episcopal Church?
10. Do you know the life, the
character, the teachings & beliefs of the Bible translators of the Modern
Versions that you are defending ? Do you know - for example - what they
believed about Jesus Christ ? If you have any doubts, please do your own
research to find out (or if you trust us to tell you the truth, you can
study it from our site at these links ...
NIV ...
TNIV)
11. Do you know what they believed
about the Deity of Jesus Christ? How do you know, did you read their
works? You may be very shocked to see that the version of the bible you
put your trustin was written by someone who DID NOT believe Jesus Christ
was the Son of God.
12. Do you know whether or
not they believed that Mary should be worshiped? Again, how do you know?
Have you read their commentaries?
Where do you get
your information? How would you find out? By reading their own comments?
That's a good place to start!
13. Do you know WHY they rejected
the Textus Receptus, that underlies the King James ? Once again, did you
read what they actually said about it?
14. Do you know whether or
not those translators even believed that the real and true Word of God
(the Bible) could ever be found within any of the
existing manuscripts (either the ones they used, or the
ones they rejected)? Upon what do you base your opinion?
15. Do you know what the
requirements of the American Bible Society are, for a person to
participate as a translator - in a Modern Version of the Bible? The answer
may shock you!
16.How much research have
you personally done on the Occultic Practices of
Westcott & Hort:
The men upon whom the NIV bases their theology and translations? Have you
read their own words from their own writings (many of which we have put on
this site for your review)
17. Would you be surprised
to learn that many of the translators of the modern versions of the Bible
state in their own writings that they do NOT believe in the literal Bible?
Would that shock you? It should! Have you personally done research on this
topic yourself? Have you read the writings of the modern day translators?
18. Would it
surprise you to find out that those who support abortion, homosexuality,
lustful escapades, adultery and other such sins were involved in the
translation of MOST modern day versions? Would THAT shock you? Would it
shock you to know that many of those same translators practiced such sins
themselves and had absolutely no moral stance against such things?
If You
Still Hold that The Modern
Versions are Good Translations
Let Me Ask You
A Few "Thinking" Questions
Question:
Do you believe you have a
"perfect" translation of the Bible?
If you agree
with the modern versions, then you CANNOT answer that question as "yes".
Have you read the
preface to the
NIV or to the
TNIV? Even the translators themselves state that there is no "perfect"
translation, and they also state that the work of "translation" is
continually ongoing.
You HAVE studied the Bible
for yourself haven't you? And you do still agree with the modern
scholars, that there are MANY mistakes in the King James Version?
Well, if you HAVE come to
your own conclusions that you agree with the above statements are true,
won't you help me because I'm puzzled at your apparent lack of concern for
your fellow man. Since you're smart enough to find "mistakes" in the KJV,
why don't you correct them all and give us a "perfect" Bible?
After all, if you can FIND
the mistakes, surely you know how to correct them!
Question:
I've read the bible many times cover to cover and I've never seen where
Jesus, Peter, Paul or any others used the terminology used by today's
scholarly crowd. When they quoted from the already written scriptures,
I've never read that Jesus said "Well, a 'better rendering would be..." or
"The ORIGINAL writing states...". Where do you find that precedent? (For
just a couple of brief references, compare Matthew 4:4 to Deuteronomy 8:3.
Also compare Matthew 4:6 with Deuteronomy 6:16).
I read
over and over that the statements used are:
IT IS
WRITTEN ... and "AS IT IS WRITTEN"
Would you like a few verses to back that statement up?
Sure:
Matthew 4:4
Matthew 4:6
Matthew 4:10
Matthew 11:10
Matthew 21:13
Matthew 26:24
Matthew 26:31
Mark 7:6
Mark 9:12-13
Mark 11:17
Mark 14:21, 27
Luke 2:23
Luke 3:4
Luke 4:4
Luke 4:8
Luke 4:10
Luke 19:46
Luke 24:46
John 6:31
John 6:45
John 8:17
John 10:34
John 12:14
And on and on and on..... IT IS WRITTEN...
Why then do you insist that
the scriptures were inaccurately recorded and/or quoted?
Question:
If you profess that you DO NOT have a perfect Bible, then why do you refer
to it as God's Word or as Holy?
Question:
Surely you believe that
mankind will NOT get better as time goes on. (2 Timothy 3:13) Why then do
you believe that degenerate man has has somehow "evolved" and that men are
more qualified to translate God's word today than in 1611?
When you consider that in
today's language, 'bad' doesn't mean BAD, it means good; doesn't it strike
you as odd that we would reject the language of the day in which the bible
was translated?
Question:
There is one true God, yet many false gods. There is one true Church,
consisting of true born-again believers in Christ, yet there are many
false churches.
So why do you think it's so
wrong to teach that there is one true Bible, yet many false "bibles"?
Question:
Isn't it true that you believe
God inspired His holy words in the "originals," but somehow, the words of
God have since been lost, therefore, no one has a perfect Bible today?
After all, there is no way God
himself could have preserved his word for this many centuries, now is
there?
Question:
When
you use the terms "in the Greek texts" and "in the original Greek" and
"the original Greek says"....
Aren't you really lying
and being deceptive?
There ARE NO
KNOWN ORIGINAL GREEK TEXTS ANYWHERE, so when you say you are quoting from
the "original Greek" isn't that in and of itself, a deceptive statement?
Question:
Isn't it a bit shocking to you that before the modern day
versions of the bible were printed and widely accepted; there were Great
Revivals that swept across the face of the earth in which literally
thousands were saved, and now, since the modern versions were published,
there are VERY VERY FEW revivals and VERY FEW are being saved?
Isn't that
shocking to you? Who is it that has benefited the most from this? The
kingdom of God, or the kingdom of Satan?
Question:
Isn't it ironic that most of you who are 40+ grew up in Sunday School,
learning the "Golden Rule" and the Ten Commandments have now quit going to
church, forgotten the Golden Rule and break the Ten Commandments on a
regular basis all because you were "saved" (yeah right) when you were 8?
I mean, according to today's Church, once you're saved, that's all that
matters. So I guess you believe that you can break those
commandments, break that golden rule and ignore going to church now, huh?
What is even
more ironic is that you were taught as a child that SIN was
wrong...PERIOD. Now, you've let someone give you a "bible" that excuses
certain sins and rarely mentions the penalties for sin.
Considering the
MORAL state of today's society, doesn't that shock you?
"It
is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."
Psalms 118:8
In WHOM Do You
Put Your Trust?
